As a huge fan of this book, I applaud Nic, Scott and the production team involved in getting this movie off the ground. This story must not have been easy to get made. But this is the most important movie of today, for today. I did find the musical cues to be overly used and not as dramatic as they could've been, but aside from this I was at the edge of my seat, waiting for NIc to add some wisdom to my life, so that I can go out there and be a better person. Nic, as the character of Soc does just that. The movie delivers where it should, straight to your heart. In this day of the much necessary age of awareness I HIGHLY recommend anyone who wants to be better and even be the best they can be to go and watch this film, recommend this film, watch it again, buy it on DVD and support these types of projects in any way you can. Imagine if we can get the kids of today to truly understand the lessons presented in this movie - it could change the world and the medium of film reaches enough people to do just that.

Usually, i am pretty forgiving when it comes to rating movies, but this movie deserves no forgiveness. This movie is utter nonsense. Like most other baseball movies, it does cover the idea of never giving up no matter how bleak the odds look, but unlike other baseball movies, the message just does not ring true. The message about not giving up is not a constant during the movie, and is instead replaced with slapstick comedy, and booger and fart jokes. This movie could have been very funny, but instead, fails at delivering time and again. The animation is fairly decent, and it is a clever idea for a story, but in the end, every part of this movie falls thru. All in all, not even a good movie for "just the kids". Oh, and if you are a Chicago Cubs fan (which I am, seeing as that I am from the windy city) there is a TON of slandering in this movie, making the Cubs out to be cheaters, thieves, and idiots. If you are a Cubs fan, STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. This movie will just make you mad.

Great movie, hard work and proves there are still good people willing to help others regardless of economics, gender, or race.Darnellia has her future ahead of her and it is up to her. Others can only guide the way but she is in charge. Hopefully others will realize not to give up when things turn against you and when given lemons make lemonade out of them. She deserves a break from the autocratic, bureaucratic and stifling attitude of the athletic barons. She overcame her difficulties and others can also. Right is right and it is fortunate that others recognized it and were willing to help. Kudos to the legal profession for doing so and the coach for sticking by her when difficulties arose.

When it comes to drama's based on true story I am always hesitant to watch! Because most of the time it is over dramatic and simplified! "Gridiron Gang" however is none of these things! It touches the melodrama but in this case it helps the movie! First I thought it was to good to be true, but then I saw some footage from the real Sean Porter and it happens to be true! They actually recreated many scenes that is shown in the documentary based on Sean Porter and his work! This is proof that real life is much more dramatic and that Hollywood doesn't need to exaggerate this all the time! The performances were solid! "The Rock" and Xzibit show that they can act! I do think that "The Rock" is capable of more serious acting but that we will have to see in later projects! He does have a presence in this movie that viewers can't ignore! People who liked "Remember the Titants" will also like this one!

Just about every actor gets at least one big moment to cry. That's a given in a story of this nature, and some of them are better than others. Mackie's stoic attempt to take punches in an injured shoulder is full of passion, but Fox's random breakdown is, well, just like a flashback from Lost. He is better on the field, showing us a side to his personality we haven't seen yet. Strathairn seems the most sympathetic as the pained authority figure making tough decisions. Mara (Brokeback Mountain) looks so innocent you just want to hold her hand and stroke her hair every time she wells up. Aside from that, there's also a lot of personality in the film. McConaughey leads the team with a gleam in his eye and a smirk on his lips, but it never comes across as insensitive. He's hip, so of course he's the one who can lead them out of tragedy. And as an ensemble film, the cast comes together as a community, in which a single tragedy can affect them all, and a single victory can give them hope.
