I got to see Ghost Rider at a sneak recently in Los Angeles and I was pleasantly surprised. Johnson has said in his interviews that he didn't believe in taking it too seriously and I think that was the right way to go because the film is a lot of fun. It balances humor and horror and adventure in a way that I haven't seen since Army of Darkness, the 3rd in the Evil Dead Trilogy. Nicolas Cage is hilarious. He has a face that is like a silent movie actors and I kept thinking about movies like Nosferatu or Phantom of the Opera. He's been waiting for years to play this role and you can really feel how much fun he's having just going crazy, especially in the first scene when Johnny Blaze turns into the Ghost Rider. The movie just borders on the edge of campy but always manages to pull itself back before going to far. And Sam Elliott. It's got Sam Elliot. What more could you ask for?

Bridge to Terebithia is more of a movie for adults. It's slowing moving and from what I've seen, kids like fast, action-filled movies which "Bridge" isn't. I read the book when I was in 4th grade, and loved it. When I went to see the movie, I expected it to be unfaithful to the book, from the trailer, but it's not. it's pretty much exactly like the book. There are no magical journeys or fantastic kingdoms, only the pure power of imagination and hope mixed together for a tragic yet heartwarmingly beautiful story. Yeah, ugh. A kid would have more fun watching an old movie than this. (No intention to mean that old movies are boring, I love them!) Even I didn't like it. The movie made everything seem more sugary-sweetish and modern, which the book wasn't. The book is much better, in my opinion. Read the book and watch the movie and compare for yourself.

Chick flick, I know. But don't let that stop you. My first instinct when I saw the preview was, "Here's a real movie." And I was not disappointed. I was amazed at just how great an actress Jojo turned out to be. In contrast to Hilary Duff and Lindsey Lohan, she may be one of the few teenage actresses who has a great prospect for an acting future. Plus, she's really cute :) Sarah Paxton is also amazing, and Emma Roberts also does well. I thought that Raymond was slightly stereotypical, and I I wished there weren't so much giggling, but hey, whatever floats the filmmaker's boats. It does start out very flirty, so "shallow" that my heart sank as I began to lose hope. However, it quickly grew into a beautiful, sentimental story of beauty, friendship, and love. Two thumbs up.

Sometimes movies are meant to be watched to entertain. Sometimes it's more enjoyable to watch something and say, "hey isn't that retarded?" and then watch it again knowing it's there and that it somehow works. I think people are being way too harsh on this movie. The shifts are beautiful. Who should care how "low rated" it is. Even though there are clichés, is it not fun to watch a cliché every now and then? Is it not fun to be able to enjoy something predictable? People should realize that they probably were low budget and were probably low-equipped, and I've read the book and I still don't care I love it. It deserves a ten. Plus 'real wolves?' That makes it perfect.

When I think Will Ferrell, I think hilarious. When I read what this movie was about, I thought maybe he's not funny in this one. This is a serious, dramatic movie. Although there may be some witty moments, it's not a hilarious type that I'm used to seeing him in. This movie is all about this guy that does pretty much the same thing everyday. His routine is his life. He doesn't have a love life, social life, or anything like that. He doesn't have many friends either. One day, he realizes someone is narrating his life and no one can hear the narrator but him. When he confronts people about it, they usually think he's crazy. One day he finds the narrator and realizes it's an author writing a novel about his life. It's pretty entertaining. And it has a very unique beginning, middle, and end. I would highly recommend seeing it. I enjoyed it a lot!
