I was most interested in watching this documentary as i find the subject fascinating: the industry of war presented as it really is, a business opportunity. But i was rather disappointed with the film itself. Even though the content was OK, the way it was presented was disconnected and superficial. The way the stories (or "cases" should i say) are glued together is rather abrupt and takes the viewer from personal stories that simply don't cut it to more "cold facts" interviews that are a real downer. So, the film never takes off emotionally and never really touched me in any manner. It was just interesting to hear some free hand experiences about the corruption that permeates all these companies making big bucks in Iraq… but not a doc i would recommend to everyone.

Simcha Jacobovici, the reporter of 'The Naked Archaeologist' fame, has produced an excellent documentary here. However, I agree with the gist of the two previous comments that it is in dire need of a sequel and of more scholarly comments. That said, it says all that can be said in a 103 minute long documentary (not counting the publicity breaks). I disagree with one of the previous two comments about the time that has allegedly been 'wasted' showing us the difficulties of archaeological research in Israel today, an activity that has become heavily politicized. In my opinion, Jacobovici has come closer than anyone else that I know of to the truth of the matter. In fact, in this documentary, he has come achingly close to it. What he, his detractors and everyone else have missed is one central truth that I think I have discovered and that I intend to publish shortly after more than twenty years of research. The truth is amazingly simple and it explains the many so-called contradictions found in the Bible. The truth and Jacobovici's documentary are mutually-compatible but that truth, had it been known to Jacobovici, would have changed some of the documentary's implied conclusions, but not the raw facts that it contains. Highly recommended. I recommend that the readers watch the documentary and try to guess what that missed truth is.

Wordplay is a geeky docudrama about the wonderful world of crossword puzzles and the people who can't live without them. I personally love word games because of my dyslexia and play scrabble when I get the chance. Crosswords are fun, but not as much as other word games. The film was very well made and gave a superficial glimpse at the crossword world. No action, some humor, and lots of interesting facts about the New York Times crossword, the epitome of crosses. I liked the idea of getting into the lives of the top players to a small degree to find out what type of people they are. I was amazed that they had their own tournament that had been going on so long. Not a lot of action, just a homey film that leaves a good feeling.

I didn't think this was a good documentary, but I did like all of the footage that was captured. If one is looking for a well made documentary on gang life, this is not it. If you want to see some interesting unfiltered footage of gang life without an underlying biased view, this should intrigue you. There isn't much narration, and I don't think there is a point and/or moral to the story (at least, it isn't clear). I don't see how this could be an inaccurate depiction of gang life, seeing as how all of the footage is real and the narrator never makes an attempt to indoctrinate you. You just see things the way they happened to a particular group of guys and how they reacted.

This is a movie that people should be forced to see! It is an amazing display of the facts. These are real issues that everyone is going to have to deal with! The problems are not going to be solved by pointing fingers and expecting our governments to mitigate the problem, the problem lies within us as consumers! It is time that we look to our own lives and determine how we can live with far less than we currently do. The people that can grasp this concept will be far better off than those who are stuck in the past. Relocalization, reduction, more efficient use of energy and a serious reduction in consumption are great first starts. Thanks Basil for the great movie, I look forward to your next film!
